About Hansen-Ross House
The Hansen-Ross house has a very long history in the Art world.
The Hansen-Ross House was the original location for the Saskatchewan Arts Board. They held workshops in weaving, pottery, and so much more in the early 1950’s. In 1958 ( I believe) they sold the house to David Ross and Folmer Hansen (former pottery instructors of the Saskatchewan Arts Board). It became internationally renowned and an end destination in Saskatchewan for tourism. It continued as a pottery studio for 45 years.
All the artwork is from Saskatchewan artists and artisans, with 90% being from local artists. We take pride in our community and the artist and artisans we represent, approximately 20 artists at this time. With low commissions, our artist can reap the benefits of great sales and lots of exposure. Our future is bright as we move forward, promoting art, and artists in Saskatchewan.
Meet Connie.
I was fortunate to work at the Hansen-Ross Pottery Studio in my early 20’s for several years. When Folmer Hansen decided to retire, I purchased the house with the intentions of a Gallery and Artists in Residence. Renovations began and it opened in May 2018.
I never had a plan to start a gallery, but sometimes your passion and heartstrings just pull you down a new path. It was the right thing to do!
I am currently working on a new line of clothing, scarves and shawls that are dyed, designed and sewn using only Saskatchewan craftsmanship and organic materials.
